Job Summary

The Account Intern will support the finance team in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis, and process improvements.

Job Details

Responsibilities.

     Technical - Reporting & Analysis

  • Work independently to prepare timely and accurate financials including P&L, Balance sheets, Cashflow statements, SOCE monthly.
  • Prepare relevant analysis of the financials.
  • Ensure financials comply with IFRS.
  • Ensure financials comply with relevant regulatory obligations.
  • Has adequate knowledge of tax laws & regulations.
  • Ability to identify and escalate non-routine transactions.

Technical - Liquidity Management

  • Able to manage liquidity at an entity level satisfactorily (i.e. forecasting cash needs and investing excess cash).
  • Demonstrates satisfactory skills in treasury management.
  • Ensure invoices are processed within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure that invoices are duly passed on for approval (backed up by appropriate supporting documents).

Technical - Process Improvement and Planning

  • Demonstrates ability to think through existing processes to identify weaknesses/gaps and to escalate.
  • Is able to make recommendations for improvement of weaknesses.
  • Able to carry out good research.

Technical - Reconciliations

  • Understands the impact of timely reconciliations and does them accurately on a timely basis.
  • Accurately reflects accruals and provisions in the books.

Technical - Valuations

  • Understands how Funds are valued and is able to review valuations prepared by the investment team.
  • Is able to challenge assumptions where appropriate.

    Technical - Others

  • Exhibits knowledge of Asset Management, Macro Economics and Finance.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the financial implication of fund agreements.

    Communication

  • Produces first drafts of simple business documents that rarely require changes.
  • Communicates with appropriate context.
  • Effectively balances the use of oral, written, numerical and graphical presentations.

Requirements

  • First degree preferably in Accounting or Finance 
  • Must be Chartered (ICAN, ACCA etc).
